Christmas in California ......

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things after our fabulous trip in L.A.... right after we landed as we were walking back to the car at the airport, I felt the crisp cold air of home and for the first time, I welcomed it. California sunshine was "crazy awesome" but now that we are home, the Christmas spirit is all over the place and I'm welcoming it with big arms. I really do love how we have four seasons here in Vancouver and am more than ready to dig out the Christmas decorations now. BRING IT!!! So with that said, I thought I would post some pics of a store we visited called fiore designs in Venice beach who were just putting the finishing touches on their Christmas decorations. Such a pretty little shop....

Driving by some Christmas tree lots in L.A., we saw people pick out their Christmas tree in shorts and t-shirts ...... CRAZY!!! Forgive me, I'm a Canadian.

"Old School Cool"

Just had to share a wonderful shoot that took place on a very hot August day. If you recall a post I did back in August called a "Cheerful Space" here is the feature I shot for the current issue of BC Home. Hands down, this IS the most cheerful and happy space I've ever been in. You can't help but smile when surrounded by the brilliant yellow walls and eclectic finds upon entering James Boileau's home. The welcoming committee which consists of a chocolate brown lab, named Carter welcomes you with the biggest smile and wagging tail as you take in the "old school coolness" of this heritage space. My favorite feature was the massive chandelier that was originally from Hotel Vancouver.

I loved shooting this space, it was a great way to end off the week. I admit, I left feeling giddy on that hot Friday afternoon.

WAY TO GO BOYS, YOU GOT THE COVER!!!!!!!!!!!

A window box, garage and apple pie

I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend. After a few busy weeks AND weekends, I finally have some time to get catch up on the home front. Every once in awhile we all need to recharge and get centered. This long weekend is much needed and is very welcome. The window box that hubby and I made at the beginning of summer has turned out to be a big hit with the plants ....... we can't even see the new box anymore !!!

Our garage is coming along quite nicely, if you didn't see my earlier post on the start of the project, here is a picture of the cute shed like structure that leaned into itself, had furry tenants, a growing roof and a cement pad that was completely cracked in half. Cute but had to go. I sold the original window at the market but ended up salvaging another one very similar, which was in better shape. We kept the original door but for another project which I will post in a later entry... The entry door isn't on yet but I salvaged that from a home that got torn down the day after I took it.

Just a couple of things around my house that makes me happy. I hope you are having a nice Thanksgiving weekend, I'll end off with a snap I took for an upcoming issue of Delish Magazine. Seems fitting for this weekend ....
